British Pedal Car Grand Prix 

Sunday 11th July 2010

 

This amazing event wacky races is held on closed roads in the town centre of Ringwood, the two hour sprint race is something everyone should do at least once or a the very least come along as a spectator. 

 

Crowds of over 10,000 streams in to Ringwood to experience the rasamatz, the enthusiastic commentary, the atmosphere of a Sunday afternoon’s madness with wacky races the unique British Pedal Car Grand Prix.  Four drivers are allowed per car and there are classes for juniors (under 16’s) and seniors.

 

The circuit is flat out for most of the way with just two corners of note during the 1km lap.
The local opposition is absolutely first class. Teams such as “
Spirit of Royce”, “Gone Biking Mad” and “Apollo Racing” are very hard to beat.

We were so inspired by the overwhelming success of our auction last year; we have registered our own charity, Wave 105 Cash for Kids, to continue our support of children in our region in to the future.

We are committed to supporting local children under the age of 18, who are financially, socially, emotionally or physically disadvantaged.  Additionally to encourage healthy lifestyle options by promoting physical, mental and general wellbeing of children and adolescents specifically within the Wave 105 region.

TENOVUS Cancer Research is a national cancer charity which is particularly active in Bournemouth – the charity was formed in 1943 by ten Cardiff businessmen (hence “Ten-of-Us”)   The Friends of Tenovus Bournemouth Committee supports world-leading cancer research at the Tenovus Cancer Research Laboratory in the grounds of Southampton General Hospital.  It was at this Laboratory that Professor Terry Hamblin of Royal Bournemouth Hospital, with his colleagues, developed the world’s first cancer vaccine, using the patient’s own DNA.  The first person in the world to receive this vaccine lives in Bournemouth.
